  • Johanna receives an ERC Advanced Grant

    We proudly announce that the lab has received an ERC Advanced grant to continue working on cancer! The project, BorderControl, will focus on the interaction between cancer tissue and healthy tissue to understand how we can harness our body’s natural borders to stop cancer progression.

  • Aleksi defends his PhD thesis

    Congratulations, Aleksi, on successfully defending your thesis and becoming the 21st PhD student to graduate from the lab. It was an excellent 2.5-hour discussion with Vinay Swaminathan (Lund University). Thank you, Vinay, for agreeing to come to Finland and testing the breadth of Aleksi’s knowledge on the biomechanics of cancer cell motility.

  • Johanna becomes a member of Academia Europaea!

    Johanna has been appointed a member of the Academia Europaea scientific community. The European Academy of Sciences covers all disciplines and invites distinguished scientists to become members based on peer review.

  • Worldwide Cancer Research funding!

    We are very excited to receive funding from WWCR to study how the normal breast tissue microenvironment prevents tumour formation through IGFBP2 secretion (2023-2025).

  • Michal is awarded an MSCA postdoc Fellowship

    Michal received his Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) postdoctoral fellowship! Congratulations, you deserve it, and we are very proud of you.

  • We have a new Postdoc and PhD student! Welcome both!

    Omkar joined us in May from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, India to do his doctoral studies. Michal joined us in June from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, as a postdoctoral researcher.
